February 2016 Beauty Hits & Misses

This year is absolutely flying already so much so that I feel like I haven’t been posting as much as I should be since Christmas. This week I’m completely back on track with lots of good stuff planned so watch this space!

Today is the last day of February so the perfect opportunity to talk about the products I haven’t been able to put down and the products that didn’t work for me. As always, please keep an open mind as I’m sure what hasn’t worked for me may be something you like and vice versa! I love reading these posts so I hope you enjoy mine!

Hit List!

L’Oreal Infallible

I used this foundation most days this month. This is pretty unusual for me to use an affordable foundation so much. I became a bit of a foundation snob because any other ‘drugstore’ foundation I’ve tried in the last year simply hasn’t worked out for me. This one was a whole different story! This is a long lasting affordable foundation that is so worth the purchase.

 Arbonne Makeup Primer

I was kindly gifted this product by a lovely woman that sells Arbonne and I was shocked by how much I love it. It’s very similar to Smashbox Photofinish except it’s a little thicker and it’s not greasy. It’s the perfect base for my foundation. I’ve tried it with a couple of foundations and CC Cream since receiving it and it works with all of them.

I’ll have a full review on this and a couple of other Arbonne products this week or next week but if you’re looking for more info then click here.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique

I’ve been using this in combination with the Arbonne primer.  This one illuminates my skin and the Arbonne primer helps to cover up my acne scarring and pores. This is a stunning illuminating primer. I’ve used it a lot this month. It gives the skin natural glow when applied as a base or mixed with foundation. I’ve also been applying this on top of my foundation on my cheekbones for a bit of an extra glow.

I’ve a full review of this soon!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer

If you’re a fan of the Double Wear foundation then this concealer is an absolute must try. It’s high coverage that also doubles up perfectly as a highlight shade. It covers up blemishes, redness and it doesn’t crease under the eyes. I’ll buy this one again and again.

Carli Bybel for BH Cosmetics

I’ve been completely obsessed with and this is my Carli Bybel palette from BH Cosmetics. I use this palette every single day and cannot put it down. It’s the perfect eyeshadow and highlight palette. It’s very convenient for me in the mornings when I’m rushing to work because it has all the shades and finishes I need for a day time look and it has a mirror.

Don’t be put off by the fact this is an American company as I know these types of products are usually very hard to get your hands on and can sometimes include customs charges. This one is so affordable that you won’t be charged customs and it’s very easy to order. I ordered mine to Australia and it cost $25 including shipping! I wrote a full review on this palette recently so click here to take a look to see what the shades are like.

Rimmel Kate Moss Nude in Shade 45

I wore this pretty much every day to work this month. I’m obsessed! It’s the perfect nude shade for me as it’s slightly on the pink side. It’s also the perfect safe shade for work. It’s very comfortable and creamy on the lips. I want the whole collection!

Real Techniques Setting Brush

I LOVE this brush. It’s a must have in my opinion. It’s perfect for setting under eye concealer. It’s perfect for blush as it doesn’t pick up too much product and it’s perfect for highlighting for the same reason. I’ve a full review up from a couple of months ago on some Real Techniques brushes including this one. If you’re interested in affordable brushes then be sure to check it out here.

Kiehls Facial Cream

This product has done wonders for my skin. I put this on every night and in in the morning my skin is soft, smooth and hydrated. It’s so important to invest in your skincare if you’re going to spend money buying the perfect makeup products. I reviewed a couple Kiehls products this year so be sure to check it out here.

Miss List!

Rimmel Provocalips

I really wanted to like these! I’m addicted to buying lip products and matte lipsticks at that. I’m not afraid of the retro mattes from MAC that some people hate so when these were even too drying for me I was really surprised. It’s such a shame because the colours are really nice. The more I treid to like these the more my lips hated me for it. Sorry Rimmel! Too drying for me.

Maybelline Brow Satin Duo

This has a powder on one end and the pencil on the other. I loved the idea of this product because I’m a huge fan of eyebrow pencils. I found the powder really hard to work with and the pencil to hard and difficult to blend. It took a lot of effort to get the product out and then just looked all smudged. I love a lot of Maybelline products but sadly this just wasn’t one of them.

Yay! Another fan of Arbonne! It’s so so good. I totally get what you mean about Provocalips. First time I tried the red I quite liked it but it all went downhill from there haha x

Well you’ve sold me on the L’Oreal foundation Louise – I tried the original formula when it first came out and wasn’t all that impressed, but this sits so well on your skin and looks amazing – you look amazing! Love reading what other gals love, and what was an epic fail ♥

Lovely post, I completely agree with you on the infallible foundation I love it so much really works well with my oily skin. I also completely agree with Provocalips they are just not up to the retro matte standard which I cant recommend enough!
Think I’ll have to give that lumi base a try as I have read a lot of good things about it now! x
