The Balm’s Mary-Lou Maizer Review

Hi Girls,

So today is all about that glow with The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. This has been hyped to death and I couldn’t find it anywhere so I was dying to find it to see what all the fuss was about. Then I found out that David Jones stocked The Balm and I was there that day to buy it! I’ve been using this product for about six weeks now and I love it! Keep reading for the all of the highs and the lows.

Product Claims:

‘Highlighter, eye shadow and shimmer in one, this formula can be layered onto your lids for a luxe look, swept onto your cheeks for a sexy sheen, or used as an all-over finish before you head out for the night.

– Works as a highlighter, eyeshadow and shimmer in one
– Uses mica to diffuse light so your skin looks softer and younger
– Free from oil, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, phthalates, GMO’s, Triclosan or talc’

My Thoughts:

Mary-Lou is a gorgeous buttery champagne colour highlight. It will take suit every skin tone from very fair to dark and everything in between. It is the perfect colour for all skin tones in my opinion, I’ve worn with and without fake tan and it just works.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer

Mary-Lou is a beautifully pigmented shimmer that has no hint of glitter whatsoever which I love! I hate glitter! It’s really easy to blend and there’s zero fall out when it comes to this product. This means that the product goes where you apply without any stray powder falling where you don’t want it to go. This is a big thumbs up for me.

This highlight is great value for money. It’s affordable and it’s going to last a very long time because it’s so pigmented and a little goes a long way. So if you’re after a more subtle glow then you’ll need to choose your brush wisely and be very light handed. It you love your highlight you will love this product. The only issue some people will have is going completely overboard but this can be easily fixed and as they say, practice makes perfect.

I’ve been applying Mary-Lou with the Real Techniques brush which I got in the sculpting kit. I apply the product on the top of my cheek bones, down my nose, lightly across my forehead, on my Cupid bow, on my brow bone and in the corners of my eyes. I’m on love with the result! It’s a beautiful dewy glow that lasts all day.

The packaging is gorgeous and stands out from the crowd. It has the The Balms signature labelling which stands out from a lot of brands. Mary-Lou comes in a compact with a mirror which is very handy for travel and it seems sturdy enough.

The only low for me was that it does emphasise large pores. This can be fixed by using a pore filling primer such as Benefit’s POREfessional. If you have large or visible pores you may need to experiment with this product and find something that works for you. It’s still a beautiful product to use on the eyes.

I highly recommend this product to everyone! I’m so glad I found it and I haven’t stopped using it since. I love this product so much and I love the result it gives with very little product! It’s often very hard for fair skin people to find a highlight and this is a big winner!
