Skincare Routine For Dry Sensitive Skin

As you all know (because I probably harp on about it a bit too much!) I have dry skin that suffers from the odd breakout. I’ve had a couple of messages asking for my skincare routine so I’ve put together a post of my favourite high end and affordable products that I love to use and that really help me avoid having patchy dry skin and breakouts.

I use a real mix of high end and affordable so I hope you find something you like. These are products that work for me and I hope they work for you too!

Makeup Removal:

To take off my makeup I’ll use either a micellar water or an oil. I’ve a whole post on micellar waters that you can check out and you’ll see that my overall favourite is the L’Oreal Micellar Water.

If I’m not using micellar water I’ll use either coconut oil or rose hip oil. You can get coconut oil from the supermarket or healthfood store. The rose hip oil I use is the Triolgy rose hip oil. I find oils to be really soothing and moisturising. They leave my skin feeling really soft.

Cleanser:

High End: La Roche Posay Physiological Foaming Water

Once I remove my makeup I’ll follow up with a cleanser.  I was a bit skeptical about using a foaming cleanser at first because they can be very harsh but this one is really gentle and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean.

I try out a lot of cleansers. I really like this one at the moment but unfortunately don’t have an affordable one that I love and would recommend.

Toner:

High End: La Therapie Skin Balancing Toner

This is a toner I’ve been using since Christmas and it’s quite expensive but I’d highly recommend it. It’s so worth it! It doesn’t sting my face like a lot of others do and it cleans my skin really well without stripping my skin of all much needed oils. It’s pretty gentle on my eyes too. A beautician told me it’s good for dry sensitive skin that can break out in spots. I used to find it so hard to treat spots without drying out my whole face and this has worked wonders. I won’t go without this toner.

I highly recommend this one and haven’t found an affordable one that compares to how this one is. If you’ve any recommendations I’d love to hear from you.

Moisturise:

High End: Kiehls Facial Cream

I got a Kiehls set before Christmas and I still haven’t made a dent it the Facial cream. I use the Facial cream every night and my skin is so smooth and hydrated the next day. I highly recommend trying this one out. I have a full review of the Kiehls Hydrating Skincare kit if you’re interested, click here.

Affordable: Neutrogena Hydro Boot Water Gel

This is a very good affordable alternative that I highly recommend. I reviewed this last year so check it out if you’re interested. This gel is a drink of water for my skin and it contains glycerin so it can act as a primer too.

Eye Cream:

High End: Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

It’s really important to keep you’re eye area hydrated especially if you have dry skin. If you like highlighting your under eye area or like putting on eyeshadow it’s an absolute must.

Exfoliate:

Once or twice a week (maxiumum) I will exfoliate. It’s really important to not exfoliate too much.

High End: La Thérapie Crème Gommage Éclat – Active Radiance Facial Polish

I’m using an exfoliater from La Therapie at the moment also. I really love this product. It feels luxurious and gentle on the skin. It smells absolutely amazing and it completely brightens up my whole complexion. I wouldn’t say it’s a must have but if you’re looking for a real treat I would 100% recommend buy this. I don’t want the tube I have to last forever!

Affordable: Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Scrub

If you’re looking for a more affordable exfoliate  I would recommend the Aveeno Brightening Face Scrub. It’s really affordable and again very gentle.

Face Masks:

Lush Oatafix

Once or twice a week I use a face mask. The Lush ones are so affordable! I love Oatafix. It’s very soothing and exfoliates the skin at the same time.

I’m currently trying out the Glamglow hydrating mask so I’ll keep you updated on that one!
